What is business continuity and disaster recovery, and why do you need to think about them?
To the executive, charged with ensuring his organization is prepared for situations where normal activity may be interrupted, the biggest concerns are “what will happen to my business if x happens?”, “What if there’s a fire at the office?” or “What if there’s a pandemic? A terrorist attack?”.
Businesses need to be prepared to handle literally anything, which is at first glance a seemingly impossible (and probably far too expensive) task. Many organizations as a result, are under-prepared or in some cases, not prepared at all. However, preparedness doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive if approached not as an adjunct to normal operations, but as a part of what you do each day.
